Purple Flowers

One of my favorite things about living in the Pacific Northwest is having an actual Spring. You know, where trees turn green again, buds grow on trees, flowers bloom, and the weather gets warmer. Yes, we still have our fair share of rain in the Spring (it is raining as I write this in fact). Spring weather is far from consistent, but we actually can witness the renewal of life around us. Growing up, I was more used to snow, mud, and then summer. We would see the trees turn green, but oftentimes it was closer to summer than in Spring.

Photo Challenge

I am not doing a photo challenge for the month of March. I realized that it was too much during my last class. My next class starts in a couple weeks. Once I have a better idea of the workload in that class, then I can see if I can do a new challenge in April (or possibly May). If the workload is too much, I will be off the photo challenges until probably June (I don't plan on taking classes during the summer). Until then, I decided I would do a seasonal checklist. I'm not going to worry about getting to all of them on the list; I am simply going to go about my business and see how many I was able to complete come the end of Spring. After reading the list, it will be a walk in the park to get some of them done (in fact, I think three of them are ready to be checked off!). The Spring list I am using is from the "Simple As That" blog, and it can be found here.

Peaceful, In Love With, Up

I kind of forgot that I hadn't posted the last three days of the February photo challenge. Better late than never I suppose ...

Day 26:

Peaceful

S had a recent spell of not being able to sleep through the night. We had a few days of her falling asleep in the car on the way home from dropping A off at school. This particular day, I managed to transfer from the car to the house without her waking (which never happens). I was going to force her to get up so she could nap later, but she was so peaceful I let her sleep.

Day 27:

In Love With

My little family. The bottom picture makes me crack up - it looks like I have a tiny hand, and that I am touching my chin, but it is A's hand.

Day 28:

Up

Things are looking up! Springtime blossoms

Crisp, In Between , Shiny

Crisp

We have a lot of rain lately (it is that time of year). We finally had a break in the clouds for a few days, and the sun warmed up the air and the trees. You can see steam coming off the tree as it gets warmed up by the sun. While it was warmer than it had been, and the sun felt amazing, it was still a crisp day. (day 23)

In Between

(day 24)

Shiny

S and I went for a walk the other day. We didn't make it very far; she just wanted to play in a mud puddle at the end of our driveway. She spent a lot of time finding pine cones, rocks, and leaves to toss in. We did manage a peek at the lake as well. (day 25)

Help, The Written Word, Tiny, I see ...

I got quite a bit behind on this photo challenge. Many days I did at least take the picture, but even with that I sometimes was behind. Because I am behind I am going to combine a few days into one post.

Day 19:
Help

S is my little helper. She loves to help - with just about anything. Sometimes it really is nice to have her help. Other times, well, it would be more helpful if she wasn't helping. But, it makes her happy so we try and let her help with as many things as we can. I remember a parent education session I attended at a local toddler group last year discussed the five love languages. A was hard for me to peg down into one category (still is - she really is a combination of them), but S -- she is by far the "Acts of Service" one. She loves to help, do jobs, helps with baking and cooking, and she really gets upset if you tell her she can't help. There are definitely times she falls into one of the other categories, but I think that is true of all of us. However, helping is her primary "love language." What love language are you? I'm "Words Of Affirmation" with "Quality Time" in a close second (according to the quiz on their site I just took).

Day 20:

The Written Word

What better picture for the written word than a picture of a book about the written word being taken over by technology? I am reading this book for a propaganda in the media class, but it really is interesting and worth a read. While I don't agree with the views presented in the book 100%, I do think that many valid points are made. I agree with the overall idea, but I think it is too black and white.

Day 21:

Tiny

Here are my tiny picketers. We had a family dinner book club in February, and these tiny picketers were part of our decorations. You can find out more about our dinner here (is it wrong that I just linked to one of my own blogs?).

Day 22:

I See ...

We were having lunch the other day, and I mentioned that I needed to come up with an idea for "I see." A said, enthusiastically, "Mom, why don't you take a picture of me now that I can see (she is excited to have new glasses)?" How could I refuse?
